Issue#3: Profits from the rising Metaverse service industry
Reading time: 1.5 mins
McKinsey predicted the Metaverse to become a $5 trillion market.
But lots of entrepreneurs are often overthinking solutions and products for this rapidly growing market.
Below are some ideas for different skillsets that could profit handsomely as we switch our lives to more time online.
Property
As the metaverse becomes more popular, there will likely be a growing demand for virtual real estate.
This could be as simple as searching for and finding properties that are underpriced or hold promise and taking a finders fee.
Or as complex as a full end-to-end services to develop and sell virtual properties, such as virtual homes, businesses, and other buildings in the metaverse. Further reading
We’ve already seen a number of stores/offices pop up from early movers, but more are going to come…
Events/Logistics Planner
With the growing popularity of the metaverse, there will likely be a growing demand for virtual events and experiences, such as concerts, festivals, and other gatherings.
Venture ready ideas: We’ve already seen Hopin fly during the pandemic, so when will the metaverse version come? If you are already a virtual events planner, you’ll have a massive headstart in the race for creating a metaverse events platform.
Designer
In the metaverse designers have a huge scope and range to unleash their talent on the world. You can create custom avatars, virtual spaces, and other graphics for users.
Equally as important are building blocks for people to reuse. Icon packs are always popular but there are a tonne of primitives coming to the blockchain e.g. composable fashion (good deep dive here), that will help designers monetize.
Personal shopper
Similar to the last point but if you don’t have design skills that shouldn’t stop you!
You could offer virtual personal shopping services, helping users to find and purchase virtual goods and services in the metaverse that other people have made.
Grazia covered this new emerging trend in 2022.
Fitness Classes
This one may be more of a longterm thing due to the bulkiness of headsets at the moment but you could offer virtual fitness classes, whether it's yoga, dance, or even personal training, in the metaverse.
Tutoring
Virtual fitness may be a way off but I strongly believe that B2B applications of the metaverse may be how we see much wider spread adoption of the technology.
Virtual coaching and consulting, virtual language classes or virtual tutoring services in the metaverse, whether it's for school subjects or specific skills like coding or music would be one area to get ahead in.
Done
There are a tonne of other areas that I could have covered but in the interest of keeping it brief the above were chosen.
Let me know what other services or products (ideally nothing too complex) that you either use today or see being used repeatedly that could be replicated in the metaverse!
