Welcome to the 85 newly minted Altcoin Evolutionists who have joined us since last post!
Hi internet frens👋 ,
It’s been a busy couple of weeks at Altcoin Evolution due to holidays, work and other stuff so I thought I would bring you something a bit different: a few things to read + a bit of analysis in the absence of a post from me :)
As an FYI the the content coming up next is a deep dive into the following L1’s (and my first L2!): Harmony ($ONE), XRPL ($XRP), Hedera ($HBAR), Polygon ($MATIC)
Always interested to hear what protocols readers are interested in so let me know (here, via twitter or YouTube) if you want me to look at any of your bags and I’ll do my best to cover them soon.
Cheers, Greg
Threads to read:
#1: Raoul Pal gives our methods a 👍
I am not a developer, so when I do my deep dives I always believe that my strongest analysis is in the usage and dApp sections rather than getting into the nitty gritty of the protocol section.
Therefore I felt somewhat vindicated this week when a legend of the crypto space Raoul Pal made a thread showing that the:
VALUE OF A DIGITAL ASSET NETWORK IS DRIVEN BY
DAILY TRANSACTION VOLUMES (IN DOLLARS OR UNITS OF VALUE)
X
NUMBER OF ACTIVE USERS
~ Source Twitter
This is what I have been banging on about in everything I write.
Technology is useless without adoption.
Basically usage via dApps = number go up (eventually)
To prove his point Raoul pulled up these graphs for Bitcoin, Ethereum and XRP respectively:
As you can see there is a pretty nice correlation so I will be incorporating this method into my posts from now on to see if it holds true across all chains.
The punchline is that if we look for chains that are used, through a variety of metrics - including the two above but more as well, we can place our bets on probabilistic outcomes.
Read the whole thread here:
#2: Anchor goes multichain
After writing about Luna I have been following it’s developments very closely. This news has to be up there:
The reason why this is so important (imo) is that if they’ve deployed via Wormhole on Avax, they can deploy on the following:
This move will bring a huge amount of users to the Anchor platform and I will be watching the conversions to Luna ecosystem users via new active addresses closely.
#3: Defi dreams
Continuing the DeFi theme - while I am not a big DeFi person, I thought this thread cleared up some things; mostly the importance of stablecoins as a foundational piece of any DeFi ecosystem.
I have followed @j0hnwang for a while now and really like the balanced views he brings to the space.
If I approach it more from a commercial side, J0hn seems to have a much better grasp of the technical elements (if you’re reading maybe collab on the next L1? HMU), so well worth looking at his mega threads.
He also calls out a load of accounts to follow which is usually where the alpha is hidden, don’t fade lightly but also be conscious of the volume…
#4: NFTs
Getting to grips with NFTs is something that we should do because they may well be the vehicle to unlock tokenisation for the masses - looking even more likely since Zuck’s instagram x NFTs announcement…
Here is a great starter for 10 thread that should firmly get you going on this journey.
#5: Be safe out there padawan…
Protecting your gains is going to become real when this bull cycle comes to a close.
@thedefiedge did a huge post on the best methods to protect yourselves including covering all the major ways people phish, hack and otherwise try and trick you.
Definitely worth paying attention to this one…
Bonus: My crypto start-up
As some of you will know I am a Web3 builder - something I hope sets my writing apart from some others, and occasionally I jump on another channel to chat about all things Peerkat.
The other night I was invited to a Twitter space with Ben aka @sirbullycrypto to chat about how the project is going and a load of other things. If you’re interested check out the recording below:
And that’s it for this week.
March has been a busy month for me personally so I hope I can really hit content production hard coming back in April - July (until more holidays in August), so watch this space and subscribe to get it straight to your inbox:
Until then, have a good one.
Greg
As always DYOR this is not investment advice, also I might have missed stuff that is a key technology thing that you may understand better than I do.
Hope you enjoyed this slightly different post, I have been sharing these tweets throughout the week on Twitter, so if you follow me there @0xGregH that will give you the latest.
If you liked this content, please give us a share and tag me!
Greg, I just found Your site (searching for info about Flare, if this matters).
I am impressed by Your view, probably because is quite the same as my own ;)
Carry on & write more. It is really worthly to read it.
